ABOUT THE ARTIST 

Brenda Drake is a Washington D.C. area based artist whose paintings and mixed media work have a strong expressionist style. Her use of vivid, veils of color create lush, textural layers. Ms. Drake spent fifteen years in New York City working in commercial design where she traveled the world researching color, fabric and fashion trends. This exposure to many cultures informs her artistic views. She is especially inspired by the patinas built up over time in the architecture, furnishings and art of the orient and other ancient, eastern cultures. Ms. Drake makes her home in Great Falls, Va. and has her studio at the Artist's Atelier at 1144 Walker Rd., Great Falls, VA. She exhibits at numerous metro area venues and accepts commissions.
